PDF Troubleshooting Tips

CHECK YOUR DOCK OR DOWNLOADS

Windows - Check your dock at the bottom of your browser. Sometimes Windows opens the pdf but automatically docks it.

Mac - Check your downloads folder. Depending on your preferences, pdf's may go directly to downloads.

MAKE SURE YOU HAVE ADOBE READER OR ADOBE ACROBAT INSTALLED ON YOUR COMPUTER

If you do not have one of these applications, click here to download and install the latest version.

UPDATE ADOBE READER OR ADOBE ACROBAT

If you have one of these applications installed, make sure it is the latest version.

1. Open Reader or Acrobat
2. Choose Help > Check for Updates
3. If you do not have the latest version, click here to download and install the latest version.

ENSURE THAT YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM CAN RECOGNIZE THE PDF

Opening PDFs on the desktop requires that the PDF file is associated with either Reader or Acrobat.

Windows - Option 1: Check your files types in folder options to to see what program is associated with .pdf files. It should be set to Adobe (Reader or Acrobat).

Windows - Option 2: To configure your computer to open PDFs with Reader or Acrobat, do the following:
1. Right-click the PDF, and then choose Open With > Choose Program.
2. Select Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat in the list of programs.
3. Select Always Use The Selected Program To Open This Kind of File.
4. Click OK.

Mac - Option 1: Click the pdf link. A pop-up window may appear where you can choose the program to open the pdf. Select Adobe Acrobat or Adobe Reader. You may also choose to save the pdf rather than opening it.

Mac - Option 2: Right click the pdf link. Select open link in new tab or new window.
